Unwritten
On Memorial day, I will be in Tempe in the evening to play with the AWS in the city’s celebration. Other groups are participating as well, including Corona del Sol’s Jaztecs, a jazz choir. They asked for a small combo to come play with them, which I volunteered for. Those are some talented kids! We’re playing Unwritten, a song that came out in 2006. I can’t remember the other song, but it’s kind of a funk tune.
I’m almost done with the school year, which is nice, because then I can start on my summer projects. I’ll get tot those later.
It’s been a heck of a year with work. I never imagined that my first year of teaching would turn out the way it did. I’ve learned so much so far, and I have so much to learn still. I think some of the more prominent aspects of teaching I’ve learned about has to do with management of my classroom. I also realized how being unorganized can be very problematic.
I have some ideas of how to deal with problem situations, and I was given some new ideas to deal with apathy from my students. I also have a better idea of what problems might arise that I can plan ahead for like lack of supplies and communication issues.
One major change I plan to have next year is that I will work with a high school marching band somewhere so I can keep up to date on those skills when the time comes that I find a high school opening.
Whew, a week and a half left!
